Event Description

Why must the brain be divided into right and left hemispheres? Why keep reason and imagination apart? Can’t business and creativity go hand in hand?

The value of world exports of creative goods and services reached US$ 400 billion in 2005, representing nearly 4 per cent of total world trade. Thailand is among the top 20 exporters of creative goods worldwide*. What are our strengths, abilities and readiness? How can we connect them with global trends to create new business opportunities?

The exhibition “Baht & Brains” is organized to promote the Creative Thailand policy by introducing the concept of Creative Economy as a new engine of economic development to the public.

Explore the working of creative economy through success stories in Thailand and from around the globe, and discover how our creative industries benefit people from all walks of life.

The exhibition is arranged into 3 sections:
1. The Emergence of Creative Economy in the world and in Thailand
The new engine for economic growth is “creativity”, with technological innovation and cultural assets at its heart. Success stories from countries such as the UK, US, China, Korea, and New Zealand are presented along with analysis of Thailand’s approach to creative economy development. As one of the top 20 exporters of creative goods worldwide, what are our strengths and how can we connect them with global trends to create new business opportunities?

2. Thailand Creative Industries: Case Studies
What is the working of creative industries? What makes up the production cycle? Can’t business and creativity go hand in hand? This section presents the success stories in Thai creative businesses: from multimedia production, culture, handicraft, service, to innovation. A closer look at how they work shows how two sides of the brain working in balance and a large network of people contributing to each success.

3. Towards Creative Thailand
With people and skills in place and ready for the shift to creative economy, what can Thailand do to strengthen our creative industries? Everyone—from creative professionals, state and private employees, to the general public—is the engine that powers Thailand’s creative economy. What preparation should we take to achieve sustainable development?
