ณ หอศิลปมหาวิทยาลัยกรุงเทพ กล้วยน้ำไท

โครงการศิลปะทดลองที่ศิลปินไทย (อรวรรณ อรุณรักษ์) และอเมริกัน (Phil America) จับคู่กันมาจัดการกับความแตกต่าง การซ้อนทับของบริบทและหน้าที่ของพื้นที่ในย่านคลองเตยแห่งนี้ ที่เป็นที่ตั้งของทั้งสถาบันอุดมศึกษาเอกชนและชุมชนแออัดที่มีขนาดใหญ่ที่สุดในกรุงเทพมหานคร ศิลปินทั้งสองได้เข้าไปสร้างบ้าน สร้างปฏิสัมพันธ์ กิจกรรม และความร่วมมือใหม่ในชุมชนคลองเตยและสังคมของสถาบันอุดมศึกษา เพื่อศึกษาความแตกต่าง และความแปลกแยกของ 2 กลุ่มสังคม ผ่านการรับรู้-การแบ่งปันในรูปแบบต่างๆของคนในชุมชนทั้งสองนี้ จากนั้นศิลปินได้จำลองพื้นที่และบรรยากาศของชุมชนแออัดภายในพื้นที่หอศิลป์ของมหาวิทยาลัย ให้เกิดเป็นการเชื่อมโยงของบทสนทนาระหว่างการรับรู้ที่เกิดขึ้นในพื้นที่ทั้งสอง ที่สะท้อนถึงความแตกต่างในรูปแบบคู่ขนานอันเกิดขึ้นจากความเหลื่อมล้ำทางวัฒนธรรมมาเป็นเวลาช้านาน

At Bangkok University Gallery

Villa In The Slums brings together two artists’ work in the subspace of Bangkok University Gallery and overlaps it with the institutions’ primary functions with the surrounding community of Klong Toey’s slums. With the help of students and staff of the institution, as well as people of the community of Klong Toey, their interaction with the artwork becomes evident through their direct involvement in the work. The show brings the atmosphere of Klong Toey and its slums into the institution and inside the gallery itself, creating a dialogue between the viewers of the show and the people of the community long since separated

by a cultural divide.
