From the distinguished characteristics of Thai music, which imposes no strict rules to performers, therefore allows them to freely express their feelings, sprouts a new musical creativity in which Thai style is combined with Western music. The fruits of this creation will be presented in our latest program, “Siamization: When the Modern World Sings Old Thai Songs” at Kiosk, Creative Space, TCDC.
Performance Schedule
23 May: Traditional & Conservative
Ancient music, performed with traditional Thai musical instruments and antique Western instruments, will be harmonized with synthesized music and create slow-paced modern melodies.
30 May: Short Performance
Short performances by various artists and musicians, who will join and jazz up the room with Thai contemporary music. The performances vary from Multimedia Composition, Dance Music in Thai Accent, silent film soundtrack, song of the spinning top, to a show called Material Connection.
6 June: SRM present Sombat Simla
Ajarn Sombat Simla is one of Thai famous Kaen (Thai pan flute) soloists, who has conducted his concert tour in every corner of the North Eastern Thailand and performed in several world jazz concerts. He will come here to give his solo performance and feature with the electronic band, Sticky Rice Music.
13 June: An Evening with Bruce Gaston
Enjoy piano serenade by Bruce Gaston, with the evening’s highlight, piano solo “Ar Noo”, performed for the first time in Thailand. The piece was co-arranged by Bruce Gaston and Kru Boonyong Ketkong, deceased National Artist of Thailand.
20 June: TicTacToe & Chroma Music
Musical innovative creations, including the transformation of contemporary dance gestures (Budo) into rhythms and melodies by a computer program, as well as XO game dual between Thai and Western music, with Mr. Computer as the judge.
27 June: Sweet Saimai
Saimai Band will enchant the evening with their musical performance, which harmoniously combines vocal, classical guitar and Thai traditional instruments.
