‘POSTCARDS FROM THAILAND’

8 MAY – 8 JUNE 2014

‘We have been living in a hi-speed communication era which quickness is essential. Broadband technology allows us to communicate with people from the other side of the world in real time which had never happened before.

Somehow, I personally like the old traditional communication ways. Something like postcard or letter which don’t have to be received in a flash. Postcard is a evidence to proof where we were when we sent from it an actual place, wherever we were on the earth.

Postcard also takes time to travel and has a limited space for a few sentences of handwriting. That makes us to think carefully before writing in order to put every messages and emotions in a tiny space.

About this photography exhibition, I was inspired by hand colouring of photograph technique, which were most popular from the mid to late 19th century. I tried to adapt techniques and concepts behind the method with nowadays postproduction process by painting my black & white photographs, which were taken when I travelled to many places in Thailand on Photoshop. I treat painted photographs in this exhibition as evidences to communicate with viewers how I live and travel in a beloved country called Thailand.’
