นิทรรศการ ‘บนเส้นทางการพัฒนา’

ภาพถ่ายกว่ากึ่งศตวรรษของการเปลี่ยนแปลงวิถีชีวิตคนบนที่สูงในประเทศไทย

Resize_AfficheBangkokสมาคมฝรั่งเศสเชิญร่วมชมนิทรรศการภาพถ่ายภายใต้ชื่อ ‘บนเส้นทางการพัฒนา’ (ON THE BEATEN TRACK) โดย โอลิวิเยร์ เอวราด์ และ ประสิทธิ์ ลีปรีชา ระหว่างวันที่ 31 ตุลาคม – 17 พฤศจิกายน ค.ศ. 2013 ณ ที่ทำการใหม่ของสมาคมฝรั่งเศสกรุงเทพ ซึ่งตั้งอยู่บริเวณที่เคยเป็นสวนลุมไนท์บาร์ซาร์ ผู้สนใจเข้าขมได้โดยไม่เสียค่าใช้จ่าย

นิทรรศการนี้บอกเล่าถึงการเปลี่ยนแปลงที่เกิดขึ้นกับคนบนที่สูงในประเทศไทย โดยย้อนกลับไปตั้งแต่ ค.ศ. 1950 จนถึงปัจจุบัน ผ่านคลังภาพถ่ายของนักเดินทาง นักวิจัยที่มาลงภาคสนาม และนักชาติพันธุ์วิทยาโดย ขับเน้นให้เห็นถึงเอกลักษณ์ของคนบนที่สูง และเปิดประเด็นคำถามว่าด้วยความสำคัญของคนบนที่สูง ในบริบทที่เกี่ยวข้องกับความหลากหลายทางวัฒนธรรม กลุ่มชนซึ่งรัฐเคยมองว่าเป็นปัญหาในอดีต แต่ในปัจจุบันได้ มีการนำเสนอในแง่ของการเป็นมรดกทางวัฒนธรรมที่พึงรักษาไว้ โอลิวิเยร์ เอวราด์ และ ประสิทธิ์ ลีปรีชา สองนักวิจัยขออาสาเป็นผู้นำชมนิทรรศการในวันพิธีเปิด

‘ON THE BEATEN TRACK’

A half century of photography among highlanders of Northern Thailand

Alliance Française Bangkok proud to showcase the photography exhibition ‘ON THE

BEATEN TRACK’ by OLIVIER EVRARD and PRASIT LEEPREECHA to be displayed

from October 31 to November 17, 2013 at the new Alliance française Bangkok

(on the site of the former Suan Lum Night Bazaar). The exhibition is free and open to

Through archival photos taken by travelers, missionaries and ethnologists, this

exhibition recounts changes that have taken place among highland minorities in

northern Thailand from the 1950s until today, highlighting their salient traits and

focusing on their significance within cultural diversity, long viewed as problematic by

the government but henceforth seen as a heritage to be preserved. Olivier Evrard

and Prasit Leepreecha, the two researchers behind this exhibition, will lead a guided

Olivier Evrard is an ethnologist with the French development research institution

Institut de Recherche pour le Développement. Since 1994, he has been conducting

field research in the highlands of Northern Thailand and Laos and as from 2005,

has worked in collaboration with Prasit Leepreecha, an ethnologist with the Center

for Ethnic Studies and Development at Chiang Mai University. Together, they have

gathered and digitized a large number of archival photos on minorities, creating an

iconographic collection which they keep expanding on each of their field studies.
