“HAPPY Thais” is the latest solo exhibition of internationally-renown Thai artist, Sutee Kunavichayanont. The exhibition features two set of works. The first work under the same title, “HAPPY Thais” is a print series, aiming to explore the world that driven by the power of bureaucracy. It reveals repetitive facial expression of happiness of the Thais in the form of large-scaled wall paper and prints on canvas.

In different approach, “Gaze the Looking Glass”, the other work in the exhibition, adopts a rather solemn gesture towards the subject. Sutee persuasively invites viewers to ‘gaze’ and ‘read’ in reverse, provided words on cardboards, through the looking glass, as of ‘Hollywood mirror’ or ‘vanity desk’, in order to reveal the truth.

Apart from being shown extensively in Thailand, Sutee’s works have been featured in art venue throughout the world such as the Liverpool Biennial (1999) in UK, the Asia Pacific Triennial (2006) in Australia, the Fukuoka Asian Art Triennale (2002) in Japan, and the Asian Art Biennial (2015) in Taiwan. And the exhibition “Happy THAIs” will happen in the period where the international art exhibition like “Bangkok Art Biennale 2018” will be happened on. This considered to be a phenomenal world class exhibition that gathers all world class artist and celebrities from all over the world and Bangkok.
