กรุงเทพมหานคร – RMA Institute ขอเสนอ นิทรรศการภาพถ่าย ‘Gradiva’ โดย เชน บุนนาค เปิดนิทรรศการในวันที่ 7 กรกฎาคม 2561 สถานที่ RMA Institute 238 สุขุมวิท 22 ซอย สายน้ำทิพย์ 2 , คลองเตย 10110

ภาพถ่ายชุดนี้พยายามที่จะค้นหาสิ่งที่ดูเหมือนจะปรากฎขึ้นในภาวะระหว่างความฝันและความตื่น ก่อนที่จะจางหายไปในเสี้ยววินาทีที่สมองใช้ความคุ้นเคย หรือเหตุและผลมาบงการความคิด

รูปทรงที่ปรากฎอยู่ในงานศิลปะชุดนี้ บ่งบอกถึงความยุ่งเหยิง ภายใต้ความคุ้นเคย ความโกลาหลที่ซ่อนอยู่ในโลกแห่งธรรมชาติที่ดูเหมือนจะราบรื่น เรื่องราวที่เราไม่สามารถใช้คำพูดอธิบายได้

“Gradiva” หรือ “นางผู้ก้าวเดิน” คือนางในตำนานร่วมสมัย เธอคือเทพธิดาแห่งสงคราม ซึ่งกำลังเดินหน้าเข้าสนามรบ เธอกำลังก้าวอยู่ระหว่างโลกแห่งความจริง และจินตนาการความฝัน

เชน บุนนาค (เกิดปี 2519 ที่เคมบริดจ์ ประเทศอังกฤษ) เป็นนักสร้างภาพยนตร์และช่างภาพชาวไทย-อังกฤษที่พำนักอยู่ที่กรุงเทพฯ และปารีส เชนเติบโตในประเทศกรีซและอังกฤษ และศึกษาทางด้านประวัติศาสตร์ที่ University of Edinburgh ผลงานภาพยนตร์ของเชน ได้แก่ ภาพยนตร์เรื่องยาวภาษากรีกที่มีชื่อว่า All for Nothing (ปี 2549) และภาพยนตร์สารคดีอีกหลายเรื่องที่ถ่ายทำในประเทศไทย Gradiva เป็นนิทรรศการภาพถ่ายเดี่ยวครั้งที่สองของศิลปิน

Bangkok, Thailand – RMA Institute presents a photography exhibition by Shane Bunnag on 7th July 2018. The gallery is located at 238 Sukhumvit Soi 22, Soi Sainamthip 2, Klongtoey 10110.

This series of photographs is an exploration of the forms that exist briefly before the rational mind and its protective familiarity take control, those fragmentary, elusive and semi-visible aspects of experience.
The figure, captured in all of these images, is a conduit for the short chaos that precedes daydreams, moments of unease in nature, narratives that struggle with articulation.
The title of this work comes from a story in which the intangible and the imaginary shock wakeful existence. Gradiva then is an accidental muse, a woman named after the god of war walking into battle, who steps between the real and the imaginary.

Shane Bunnag (b 1976, Cambridge, England) is a Thai/British filmmaker and photographer based in Bangkok and Paris. Shane grew up in Greece and England, and studied History at the University of Edinburgh. His film work includes the Greek language feature All for Nothing (2006), and numerous documentaries shot in Thailand. Gradiva is his second solo photographic exhibition.
