เมื่อสิ่งที่มีคุณค่าทางประวัติศาสตร์อันยาวนานของประเทศสเปนอย่างการออกแบบและงานวรรณกรรมได้มาหลอมรวมกัน จึงก่อให้เกิดศิลปะการออกแบบปกหนังสือ โดยนักออกแบบที่ทุ่มเทสร้างสรรค์ผลงานสุดท้าทายของการห่อหุ้มถ้อยคำ ให้สมดังคำกล่าวที่ว่า “หนึ่งภาพมีค่านับพันคำ”

นิทรรศการ “Cover Under Cover” ได้คัดสรรผลงานการออกแบบปกหนังสือที่โดดเด่นของนักออกแบบชาวสเปนในช่วงทศวรรษที่ผ่านมา ซึ่งพวกเขาได้ใช้ทั้งความช่างคิด อารมณ์ขัน การกระตุกขวัญให้ตกใจ รวมถึงการทำให้ฉงนสงสัย ในการเชื่อมโยงรูปแบบการรับรู้ระหว่างจิตใจกับสายตา แล้วถ่ายแปลงตัวอักษรในงานวรรณกรรมนับล้านคำให้ออกมาเป็นภาพเพียงภาพเดียว

นิทรรศการนี้เป็นความร่วมมือระหว่างสถานเอกอัครราชทูตสเปน เทศกาลออกแบบบางกอก บริษัท OpalWorks Studio นิตยสาร art4d และศูนย์สร้างสรรค์งานออกแบบ

“Cover Under Cover” is a retrospective exhibition of selected book cover artwork by Spanish designers in the last decade. Book cover art in Spain, is preceded by a long and rich tradition in both design and literature. This combination has generated a profusion of creative designers devoted to the challenging task of packaging words, which, as it is often said, are worth a thousand per image.

Witty, humorous, shocking or even puzzling, these works of passionate Spanish designers strive to bridge the gap between mind and eye and capture the essence of a million words in a single snapshot.

This exhibition is jointly organized by the Embassy of Spain, the Bangkok Design Festival, OpalWorks Studio, art4d and Thailand Creative & Design Center.
