สมบัติเพิ่มพูนแกเลอรีมีความยินเสนอ นิทรรศการจิตกรรมสื่อผสม “สีสัน ความหมาย ตัวตน : Color Identities” โดย กิติก้อง ติลกวัฒโนทัย ผู้ซึ่งเป็นศิลปิน, เป็นอาจารย์ ,เป็นเป็นผู้บริหาร และ เป็นเจ้าของธุรกิจ กิติก้องคือ ตัวตน (Identity) ที่ใส่หมวกหลายใบ บางใบเขาเลือกใส่เอง บางใบคนอื่นเป็นคนใส่ให้ กิติก้องก็เหมือนพวกเราทุกคน มีบทบาท และหน้าที่หลากหลายในตัวเรา และนี่เป็นที่มาและแนวคิดของนิทรรศการ “สีสัน ความหมาย ตัวตน: Color Identities”

“ตัวตน” ที่แท้ คืออะไร ? กระบวนการ ผลลัพธ์ และการตั้งคำถาม
กระบวนการทำงานในนิทรรศการ “Color Identities” ศิลปิน เลือกใช้สี และ รูปทรง จากอุปกรณ์ความรู้สึก และ ประสบการณ์ทางอารมณ์ ที่ได้สะสมมาจากบทบาท หน้าที่ และ ความรับผิดชอบที่มีอยู่อย่างมากมาย ศิลปินใช้สิ่งเหล่านี้เป็นแรงบันดาลใจ และ วัตถุดิบในการผลิตงาน โดยไม่ได้กำหนดโจทย์ที่แน่นอน ตายตัว แต่ใช้ความรู้สึกของผัสสะทั้ง 6 กับสิ่งที่เข้ามากระทบตนตลอดระยะเวลาหนึ่งปีที่ทำงานชุดนี้ จากนั้น ศิลปินเฝ้าตามดูผลลัพธ์ทางอารมณ์ของตน จากผลงานที่ทำเสร็จในแต่ละชิ้น แสวงหาคำตอบว่าเหตุใดตน จึงใช้สี และ รูปทรง แบบนั้นๆ ประหนึ่งเหมือนผู้ที่กำลังสืบสวนหา “ตัวตน” ที่แท้จริง

เรามีได้กี่ “ตัวตน”?
แต่ผลลัพธ์ที่ได้กลับมาทำให้ศิลปินประหลาดใจ เมื่อสีที่เลือกใช้ซ้ำๆคือตัวแทนของความทรงจำในวัยเด็ก ตัวตนภายในที่ไม่เคยหายไปไหน ในขณะที่รูปทรงและการจัดวางที่เกิดขึ้นนั้นเป็นเพียงแค่สิ่งที่เข้ามากระทบภายนอกที่ผ่านมาและผ่านไป เปลี่ยนแปลงไปตามสภาวะและปัจจัยต่างๆในแต่ละช่วงเวลาของชีวิต เราอาจจะเปลี่ยนแปลงตัวตนภายนอกเป็นอะไรก็ได้ เราอาจมีหลาย “ตัวตน” ที่ถูกอุปโลกน์ขึ้นมาด้วยบทบาทหน้าที่ การงาน, จากมุมมองของผู้อื่น หรือ จากความจำเป็น ตัวตนที่ได้จากภายนอกเหล่านี้ อาจส่งผลในการเลือกใช้รูปทรง และ การจัดวางในแต่ละชิ้นงาน แต่ การเลือกใช้สีเพื่อสื่อพลังความรู้สึกออกมาจากงานทั้งหมด คือ ตัวตนที่แท้จริงภายใน ฝังตัวอยู่ในใจ นานจนเราอาจหลงลืมมันไป ท่ามกลางสภาวะแวดล้อมที่วุ่นวาย และเปลี่ยนแปลงอยู่ตลอดเวลา

กิติก้อง ติลกวัฒโนทัย จบปริญญาตรีศิลปบัณฑิต ภาพพิมพ์ คณะวิจิตรศิลป์ มาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่ และ ปริญญาโทสาขาการพิมพ์ ที่ The College of Fine Arts, University of New South Wales, Australia. พ.ศ.2546 เขาได้ก่อตั้ง Chiang Mai Art on Paper (C.A.P.) สตูดิโอก่อตั้งขึ้นเพื่อสนับสนุน ศึกษา และ พัฒนา ศิลปะการพิมพ์ โดยเป็นแหล่งศูนย์รวมให้ศิลปินจากศิลปะแขนงต่างๆได้สร้างงานศิลปะบนสื่อการพิมพ์. ปัจจุบัน C.A.P ตั้งอยู่บน ถ.นิมมานเหมินทร์ ศูนย์กลางศิลปะ จ.เชียงใหม่ เก็บผลงานภาพพิมพ์จากศิลปินชื่อดังทั้งในและนอกประเทศ ไว้กว่า 20,000ชิ้น

Sombatpermpoon Gallery is delighted to present the mixed media art exhibition “Colour Identities” by esteemed artist, professor, and business owner Kittikong Tilokwattanothai.
In this exhibition, Kittikong reflects on the many hats he wears in his life, some of which he has chosen for himself, others of which have been bestowed upon him.
Like all of us, the artist has many responsibilities he has to undertake, and many roles he has to play. These many roles are the inspiration for ‘Colour Identities’. In ‘Colour Identities’, the artist has chosen the mediums of colour and shapes to express his experiences in playing the varied roles and responsibilities that constitute his life. The emotions that have resulted from these experiences are the inspiration behind his latest works, articulated in the fluidity of the narratives he has chosen to express his word with. In this exhibition, the artist worked feverishly and freely when struck with the inspiration over the course of year, only reflecting on his work and contemplating the reasons behind these instinctual expressions, then using these works as a means of searching and himself.

How many selves make ‘me’? What surprised the artist most in the process of searching for himself was the realization that the frequent usage of particular colours represented aspects of his childhood, and the vivid memories that he remembered of them. Even though experiences are transient and affect us externally, our external selves may adapt according to these situations and the times, effectively creating many ‘selves’ to cater to different situations. Whether due to the roles we have to play at work, due to necessities, due to life ever-evolving, these changes may affect our everyday, sometimes making us forget our deeper, inner selves, or who we really are, amidst the hustle and bustle of the everyday roles we have to undertake.

Kitkong Tilokwattanotai was born in Lampang. He received B.F.A (Printmaking) , Faculty of Fine Arts. Chiang Mai University and Master of Art, The University of New South Wales,Art and Design. He’s a founder and Managing Director of Chiang Mai Art of Paper ( C.A.P) the studio aims to support and promote the art of printing. C.A.P invites artists form various mediums to experiment their works on print. The Studio collects over 20,000 print works and is currently located in Nimmanhaemin, the heart of Chiangmai art scene.
