The Uncertainty of Existence - ความไม่แน่นอน ของการดำรงอยู่

มนุษย์เราต่างคอยตั้งคำถามกับการดำรงอยู่และสถานะของมนุษย์ท่ามกลางจักรวาลอันยิ่งใหญ่ โดยแนวความคิดหนึ่งที่ถือกำเนิดขึ้นก็คือการเน้นถึงความเปราะบาง ความเปลี่ยนแปลงและความไม่แน่นอนของทุกสิ่ง สำหรับศาสนาพุทธ กฏไตรลักษ์สอนให้มนุษย์ตระหนักว่าไม่มีสิ่งใดที่แน่แท้หรือเป็นของเราอย่างแท้จริง ไม่ควรที่จะยึดติด ซึ่งแนวคิดในเรื่องของความไม่แน่นอนนี้ ไม่ได้จำกัดอยู่แค่โลกตะวันออก แต่ยังปรากฏอยู่ในแนวคิดของนักคิดในฝั่งตะวันตก โดย Heraclitus นักปรัชญาชาวกรีกโบราณได้กล่าวไว้ว่า ไม่มีใครที่จะสามารถก้าวเหยียบลงบนแม่น้ำเดียวกันได้ถึงสองครั้ง เพราะสายนำไม่เคยหยุดนิ่งรวมทั้งชิวิตของคนที่เปลี่ยนแปลงในทุกขณะ สิ่งที่แน่นอนของชีวิตก็คือความไม่แน่นอน

ในนิทรรศการ The Uncertainty of Existence : ‘ความไม่แน่นอน ของการดำรงอยู่’ ศิลปินทั้งสามได้ร่วมกันสะท้อนภาพแนวความคิดนี้ ผ่านการสร้างสรรและรูปแบบของงานศิลปะ นิทรรศการนี้ต้องการให้ผู้ชมได้หันมาพิจารณาชีวิตของตน สิ่งที่เป็น และ การดำรงอยู่ ว่าแต่ละคนเลือกที่จะปฏิบัติอย่างไร เมื่อรู้ว่าเวลาบนโลกใบนี้นั้นสั้นนัก ชีวิตของมนุษย์แค่ผ่านมาเพียงชั่วคราว ท่ามกลางความไม่แน่นอน สิ่งที่สำคัญคือการกระทำ ว่าเราเลือกที่จะปล่อยให้ชีวิตล่องลอยไปตามกระแสอย่างไร้จุดหมาย หรือจะทำให้ช่วงเวลาอันสั้นนี้ มีคุณค่าที่สุด

The human mind always wonders back toward our own existence, our position within the universe. One school of thought is to point to its vulnerability, its state of constant change and impermanence. In Buddhism, three marks of existence reminds us that nothing is certain nor truly belongs to us, and to let go. This concept is also mirrored in Western ideology. ‘No man ever steps in the same river twice’ was a phrase derived from the teachings of Heraclitus, an ancient Greek philosopher, with a notion that the only constant in life is change.

In The Uncertainty of Existence, three artists are getting together for the first time to reflect on this concept and express it through artistic media.This exhibition will make audiences ponder upon life, the state of being and existence. What we would do when we know that our presence in this world is temporary and unpredictable, choosing to let things go or try to make our brief existence count.
