Rivers of the World is an international arts education project which links London schools with young people around the world to study their city rivers.

Launched in the Thailand in November 21-30, 2010, six public schools in Bangkok , are participating in the program to raise their global awareness and bring an international dimension to their learning.

This is the first year for Thai schools to take part in this project. Students in Bangkok were encouraged to study the Chao Phraya River which flows through the city and worked with local artists from Srinakharinwirot University to create some truly inspiring and innovative artworks. The students adopted an approach which deftly incorporates environmental issues into the artworks themselves..

The artworks were displayed along the bank of the River Thames as part of the Mayor’s Thames Festival in September 2010 and subsequently travelled to each participating city. The artworks will be exhibited at the Bangkok Art and Cultural Centre from 21-30 November 2010.

โครงการ Rivers of the World (ริเวอร์ส ออฟ เดอะ เวิลด์) เป็นโครงการขนาดใหญ่เน้นการสร้างผลงานศิลปะของเด็กและเยาวชนเพื่อจัดแสดงต่อ สาธารณชน นำเสนอผลงานศิลป์ภายใต้หัวข้อ “สายน้ำ” ทั้ง 6 คือ สายน้ำวิถีชีวิต (River of Life) สายน้ำวัฒนธรรม (River Culture) สายน้ำการงาน (Working River) สายน้ำมลพิษ (Polluted River) สายน้ำเมืองใหญ่ (River City) และสายน้ำสร้างสรรค์ (Resourceful River) โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อเสริมสร้างความรู้ความเข้าใจ และความตระหนักต่อสายน้ำสายสำคัญของประเทศ

ในปี 2553 นักเรียนกรุงเทพมหานครจำนวน 120 คน เข้าร่วมโครงการ Rivers of the World (ริเวอร์ส ออฟ เดอะ เวิลด์) ได้เรียนรู้เกี่ยวกับแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยาซึ่งเป็นแม่น้ำสายสำคัญของประเทศไทยและ สร้างสรรค์ผลงานศิลป์สะท้อนแนวคิดทั้ง 6 หัวข้อที่กล่าวมาข้างต้นผ่าน ภาพวาดระบายสี ภาพถ่าย สื่อผสมอื่นๆ โดยได้รับการดูแลจากศิลปินและจิตรกรผู้เชี่ยวชาญพัฒนาผลงานนักเรียน พร้อมนำไปจัดแสดงร่วมกับประเทศอื่นๆที่เข้าร่วมโครงการ ณ หอศิลปวัฒนธรรมแห่งกรุงเทพมหานคร ระหว่างวันที่ 21-30 พฤศจิกายน 2553
