ARTIST STATEMENT:

nu·ance: (noun) a subtle quality : nicety

In this world of social media addiction and a clamoring brashness for everyone’s opinion to be heard, things have become very loud.

This art series was made to be quiet. Through subtlety of expression, subject matter, and painting tech- nique; it does not command, it converses. It does not preach, it provides room for thought. It does not tell, it transforms, both itself and its viewers. Look past the shades of color and paint to see the far more prismatic shades of meaning and expression. The world is quiet here. Enjoy the silence.

BIO: 

MAR holds a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, major in Advertising Arts, from the University of San Carlos in Cebu City, Philippines. Currently, he is based in Bangkok, Thailand, where he works full-time as an art director for a magazine publication company. Mar is very passionate in visual arts, particularly in painting and illustration.
