International premiers with free entrance and Thai and English subtitlesIn occasion of the month of the Italian Culture in Bangkok, which presents various activities related to art, music and fashion, the first Moviemov Italian Film Festival will be held, as an opportunity to develop new routes for a cultural exchange between Italy and Thailand.Created and directed by Senator Goffredo Bettini in collaboration with the Italian Embassy in Thailand and organized by Asiatica Film Mediale and PlaytownRoma, thanks to the Italian Ministry of Culture – Cinema General Direction, the Chamber of Commerce and the Province of Rome, and with the essential support of several partners and private sponsors, the festival is built as an itinerant showcase of the most important Italian films of 2010/2011 still unreleased in Thailand.In the past few years Italian cinema – as well as Asian and Thai productions, has in fact quickly gained a leading role in the international scene, thanks to a new generation of young actors and directors, who are highly regarded and wanted in the festival circuit. Moviemov intends to promote the cultural and commercial aspects of this new Italian production, particularly in the growing Asian market and, at the same time, Thai culture in Italy.It will be presented in Rome on May 30th during a press conference where some of the most representative Italian actors and directors will make an appearance. They will also be featured in series of photo shoots taken in some of the most charming places in Bangkok, which will be published in Jun on CIAK and Grazia magazines, inside a special reportage of the event.The festival will present not only a showcase on Italian contemporary cinema, but also retrospectives and tributes, master classes and an exhibition dedicated to the relationship between the famous Italian couturier Fernanda Gattinoni and the biggest cinema stars at the time of Hollywood on the Tiber.In order to compare contemporary films with the work of Masters of Cinema, a special tribute will be paid to Mario Monicelli, one of the most famous Italian Comedy directors, through the projection of 7 titles like Cops and Robber (1951), Dearest Relatives Poisonous Relations (1992), Big Deal on Madonna Street (1958) and The Great War (1959), that won the Golden Lion and the Oscar Nomination.The cultural twinning between Italy and Thailand will be completed by the tribute to Pen-Ek Ratanaruang, one of the most talented and popular Thai directors, well known in the international festival circuits. Two screenings in collaboration with the cinema magazine CIAK will be dedicated to his work and an Award as Best Thai Director 2011. In addition to this, during the professional days organized by the Moviemov in Bangkok, the International Rome Film Festival will dedicate two days at the Thai films pre selection for the next festival edition that will be held from October 27th to November 4th 2011 in Rome.The theaters of the SFX Cinema Emporium, one of the most popular of the city, will host the screenings program while, in order to encourage the participation not only of the cinemagoers, but also of the students of the Chulalongkorn University and of the Thai Film Archive, all the screenings will be free
