ผมอาศัยการวาดภาพเป็นเครื่องมือในการเรียนรู้และสำรวจโลกด้านใน

ภาพวาดชุดนี้เกิดขึ้นในช่วง 3 ปีที่ผ่านมาด้วยความสงสัยใคร่รู้ต่อสิ่งที่เรียกว่า "พลังชีวิต"ผมได้สำรวจความปรารถนาที่จะมีชีวิต

เฝ้ามองแรงขับเคลื่อนภายในพร้อมกันนั้นก็ได้สัมผัสถึงความหวาดหวั่นอันเนี่องมาจากความรู้สึกแปลกหน้าต่อความตาย

For me, painting serves as an instrument

for learning about and exploring the inner world.

This series of paintings came into existence during the past 3 years

through curiosity about what is called "life force".

I explored the desire to live, watched the driving forces within,

and I could also feel the apprehension

caused by a sense of alienation towards death.

เนียม สุรชัย มะวรคะนอง (๒๕๒๑) เริ่มเรียนศิลปะที่วิทยาลัยช่างศิลป แล้วไปศึกษาต่อที่คณะวิจิตรศิลป์ ม.เชียงใหม่ ระหว่างนั้นเกิดความคิดว่าศิลปะควรเรียนรู้จากภายใน จึงย้ายมาศึกษาที่ภาควิชาปรัชญาและศาสนา หัวข้อที่สนใจคือความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างศิลปะกับจิตวิเคราะห์และมิติทางจิตวิญญาณ เริ่มทำงานศิลปะในทิศทางใหม่โดยได้รับแรงบันดาลใจจากกระบวนการศิลปะบำบัด, ศิลปะนาอีฟ และอนิเมะ

Niam S. Mawornkanong. Born 1978 in Samutprakarn, Thailand. Studied art at Chiang Mai University, soon realized art should be learnt from the inner then transferred to study philosophy and religion at the same university. Niam's major interest was the relation between art, psychoanalysis and spiritual issue. After graduation he started his art off in the new direction which he was inspired by art therapy process, Naïve Art and Anime.
