Shinya Matsunaga’s photographs plays with the distortion of reality.
The distortion in his work represents the illusions created by artificial landscapes, of what is supposed to be in our perception natural habitats, but in truth it is manmade functionality.
Through the process of manipulation, from capturing the image, to the display of the exhibition, Shinya Matsunaga’s photographs become fragments of displaced realities where the question of what is real and what is imitated becomes of intrigue.
