Human Negotiations เป็นโครงการจัดทำหนังสือที่ี่มีเนื้อหาที่เกิดขึ้นจากการเฝ้าสำรวจชีวิตของโสเภณีในกรุงเทพฯผ่านภาพเเละตัวหนังสือ โดยโครงการดังกล่าวจะทำการเปิดตัวเป็นครั้งเเรกในกรุงเทพฯ ซึ่งเป็นสถานที่ริเริ่มโครงการเเละเหตุการณ์ทั้งหมดเกิดขึ้นที่นี้
Opposite มีความยินดีนำเสนอกิจกรรมเปิดตัวเเละระดมทุนเพื่อโครงการ Human Negotitaions ในวันพุธที่ 15 มิถุนายน 2554 เวลา 19.30น. ในงานจะมีการนำเสนอตัวอย่างหนังสือ เเละฉายผลงานมัลติมีเดียจากโครงการพร้อมดนตรีประกอบโดยหนังประพันธ์ชื่อดังชาวญี่ปุ่น ริวอิชิ ซากาโมโต นอกจากนี้ผู้เขียนเเละช่างภาพจากโครงการจะมานั่งคุยเเละตอบคำถามถึงที่ไปที่มาเเละวิธีการทำงานให้ได้มาซึ่งเรื่องราวเเละภาพถ่ายอันทรงพลังในโครงการนี้ เเละเปิดโอกาสให้ผู้ชมได้มีโอกาสจับจองซื้อรูปถ่ายเเละโปสการ์ดที่สะเทือนอารมณ์ก่อนใคร ปิดท้ายงานด้วยปาร์ตี้กับดีเจจาก WTF ที่จะเปิดเพลงฟังค์จากยุค 70s

เกี่ยวกับโครงการ Human Negotiations
โครงการดังกล่าวเป็นโครงการอิสระที่เป็นการร่วมงานระหว่างช่างภาพเเคทธารีน่า เฮสเสอย์ เเละนักเขียนลาร่า เดย์ ทั้งสองได้เฝ้าสังเกตุชิีวิตเเละพูดคุยกับโสเภณีในกรุงเทพฯเเละนำเสนอเรื่องราวดังกล่าวผ่านตัวอักษรเเละภาพนิ่ง โดยทั้งสองคนไม่ได้เจตนาเพื่อที่จะนำเสนอภาพเดิมๆของอาชีพคนขายเซ๊กซ์ที่มักจะเป็นการนำเสนอเรื่องราวการถูกกดขี่ข่มเหง หรือการถูกเอาเปรียบของเพศหญิงในประเทศโลกที่สามที่มักมีการการถูกบังคับให้ค้าประเวณีจะกระทั้งอาชีพโสเภณีที่ถูกมองว่าเป็นเหยื่อผู้เคราะห์ร้าย ในทางตรงข้ามเเคทธารีน่าเเละลาร่าต้องการเปิดโลกของผู้อ่านให้กว้างขึ้น เเละมองเห็นภาพที่เเตกต่าง ไม่ว่าจะเป็นความหมายเเละทิศทางในการดำเนินชีวิตของเเต่ละคน ที่ไม่ควรถูกตัดสินเป็นสีขาวหรือสีดำ โดยเฉพาะในเวทีที่เพศหญิงมีบทบาทเป็นศูนย์กลาง เพราะในความเป็นจริงเเล้วบทบาทดังกล่าวอาจมีความซับซ้อนมากเกินกว่าที่จะถูกตัดสินอย่างรวดเร็ว ดังนั้นเราควรจะเปิดใจให้กว้างก่อนที่จะทำการตีความจากภาพที่เห็น

โครงการดังกล่าวจะถูกนำเสนอในรูปเเบบของหนังสือที่มีภาพประกอบเเละเรื่องสั้นที่มาจากจินตนาการ (จัดพิมพ์โดย Three Shadows ในเดือนมิถุนายนปี 2554) เเละผลงานมัลติมีเดีย โดยมีเพลงประกอบโดยนักประพันธ์ดนตรีืชื่อดังริวอิชิ ซากาโมโต หนังลือ Human Negotiations จะเปิดตัวอย่างเป็นทางการในวันที่ 25 มิถุนายน 2554 ที่ Three Shadows Photography Art Centre ที่กรุงปักกิ่ง ประเทศจีนพร้อมกับนิทรรศการภาพเเละโครงการดังกล่าว

Human Negotiations, a long-term book project exploring the lives of Bangkok sex workers through images and text, will make its debut in the city where it began.
On Wednesday June, 15th 2011, Bangkok’s most vibrant new arts space, Opposite, will hold a one-time-only fundraising event for the project, offering a sneak preview of the book (to be published on June 25), a multimedia screening featuring music by Ryuichi Sakamoto, a Q&A with the book’s authors, and sales of posters, limited-edition postcards and special-edition prints. The night continues with WTF's dj serving up 70’s funk, rare Bossa, and post-house beats.
The event comes hot off the heels of a fundraising campaign on creative crowdsourcing site Kickstarter, which ends on June 9 http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1647641187/human-negotiations/. The authors ask for anyone interested in supporting the project to please make their pledges NOW.

All proceeds will go towards the book’s printing costs.
About the Project
Human Negotiations is an independent, self-funded collaboration between photographer Katharina Hesse and writer Lara Day, exploring the lives of Bangkok sex workers through images and text. Leaving aside stereotypes of exploited, downtrodden Third World females coerced into a profession in which they are passive victims, the project reveals a more nuanced, open-ended world where women take center stage, and where reality’s complexities leave room for wider interpretations. The project takes the form of a book featuring photographs and fictionalized short stories (Three Shadows Press, June 2011) as well as a multimedia work featuring music by Ryuichi Sakamato. The book will be officially launched on June 25 at Three Shadows Photography Art Centre in Beijing to coincide with a solo exhibition.
