ก่อนเกิด หลังตาย (ประติมากรรม)

พิธีเปิดนิทรรศการ : วันเสาร์ที่ 24 พฤษภาคม พ.ศ. 2557 เวลา 18.00 น.

ความตายเป็นสิ่งที่เรารู้กันว่าไม่อาจหลีกเลี่ยงได้ แต่อะไรคือ ‘สภาวะก่อนเกิดและหลังตาย’ ซึ่งเป็นปริศนาธรรมที่ คามิน เลิศชัยประเสริฐ ใช้เวลานานกว่าหกปีเพื่อเรียนรู้ ทำความเข้าใจ และสร้างสรรค์เป็นผลงานศิลปะชุด ‘ก่อนเกิด หลังตาย’ มาตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ. 2551

สำหรับในครั้งนี้ นิทรรศการ ก่อนเกิด หลังตาย(ประติมากรรม) ได้แสดงผลลัพธ์ส่วนหนึ่งจากการเรียนรู้ ในรูปแบบของข้อความที่มาจากการครุ่นคิดด้วยตนเอง และจากการโต้ตอบอย่างฉับพลันกับผู้อื่น โดยเขาได้พิจารณาซ้ำ ประทับย้ำเตือนข้อคิดเห็นนั้นลงบนผลงานวาดเส้นกว่า 730 ชิ้น และประติมากรรมหัวกะโหลกพลาสติกกว่า 1089 ชิ้น รวมถึงเปลี่ยนบางข้อความให้กลายเป็นประติมากรรมสำริดและเซรามิค(รากุ) โดยกระบวนการทางศิลปะที่เกิดขึ้น เป็นดั่งการพิจารณาแก่นของเรื่องราวชีวิตประจำวันที่แฝงอยู่เบื้องหลังของถ้อยคำ ไปพร้อมๆกับการทำความเข้าใจตนเอง ชีวิต และสภาวะ เกิด-ดับ ที่อุบัติอยู่ในทุกปัจจุบันขณะของธรรมชาติ

นิทรรศการ ‘ก่อนเกิด หลังตาย (ประติมากรรม)’ จัดแสดงระหว่างวันที่ 17 พฤษภาคม - 28 มิถุนายน พ.ศ. 2557 เวลา 11.00 - 18.00 น. (เว้นวันอาทิตย์และวันหยุดราชการ)

Before Birth, After Death (Sculpture)

We all know that death is inevitable but what is the state ‘before birth and after death’? This is a dharma puzzle which Kamin Lertchaiprasert has spent over six years learning, understanding and rendering in his art collection ‘Before Birth, After Death’ since 2008.

The ‘Before Birth, After Death (sculpture)’ exhibition showcases some results from the artist’s learning in the form of messages from his own rumination and his immediate dialogues with others. Various ideas from this process were reexamined and recreated on over 730 drawings and 1089 pieces of plastic skull sculpture while some messages were transformed into bronze and ceramic works (raku). The artistic process in this collection represents how the artist explores the essence of daily life hidden behind words, and at the same time tries to understand his own self, life and the states of birth and death, which exist in nature at every moment.

‘Before Birth, After Death (sculpture)’ exhibition is on view from May 17 to June 28, 2014 at 11:00 – 18:00 (closed on Sundays and public holidays).

The opening reception is on Saturday 24 May 2014, at Numthong Gallery, Aree 5 (north), Phahonyothin 5, Phahonyathin Road, Bangkok.
