TDC 62 TRAVELING EXHIBITION

TDC 62 Traveling Exhibition in Thailand organised by Thailand Creative and Design Centre Chiang Mai (TCDC Chiang Mai) in cooperation with the Typographic Association of Bangkok (TAB), the exhibition features some of the 396 winning entries, including Communication Design winners and Type Design winners. This is the first time that TDC 62 Traveling Exhibition has come to Chiang Mai after the successfully exhibited TDC 60 (2014) at TCDC Bangkok. The exhibition directly benefits to students and practitioners of the various branches of design, entrepreneurs and all people in the northern part of Thailand by offering them the opportunity to study the thought processes behind the wining works, the use of creative techniques and materials, as well as the wide variety of design approaches and unlimited design possibilities on display. It also has potential to inspire viewers in integrate knowledge thus obtained in their studies and work, thereby increasing the effectiveness and interest of these undertakings.

The Type Directors Club (TDC) is an international organization whose purpose is to support and promote excellence in typography as well as to educate young designers who will one day occupy the forefront of the industry. Founded in 1946 by some of the industry’s leading practitioners, the TDC’s earliest membership included Aaron Burns, Will Burtin, Freeman Craw, Louis Dorfsman, Gene Federico, Edward M. Gottschall, Herb Lubalin, Edward Rondthaler, Bradbury Thompson and Hermann Zapf. With this solid historical background, the TDC is globally recognized as the organization that represents the best in today’s type design and type use.

The TDC regularly hosts activities in support of type designer’s education. Foremost among these are its annual international design competitions. one for the use of type and the letter form in design. The winning entries are reproduced in the book Typography Annual as well as displayed in traveling exhibitions. The typography competitions and resulting records of typographic trends, and as such, they are an invaluable resource for designers, scholars and the general public. TDC 62 Exhibition travels the world, starting in the USA and counting on to Germany, Poland, Spain, South Korea Vietnam and Thailand.
