Consumers who use stock photography in place of a photographer are able to save time and money though they may sacrifice creative control. Stock images are accessible through search engine databases, purchased online, and delivered by means of downloading or e-mailing.

Picture libraries, photo archives, and image and photo banks are similar to a collection of stock photography. Some current stock photography distributors offer stills and illustrations as well as videos and are, therefore, slightly different from other image banks. However, if that buyer has a rights-managed license, he or she is able to have exclusive possession of the purchased image for a specific time period. In that time period, the photographer does not have the right to resell the image, and no other individual may for any reason use the image.

There are restricted uses for rights-managed stock photos. Images and image rights cannot be sublicensed, transferred, or distributed. They cannot be used for pornographically, illegally, maliciously or in any defamatory fashion. If an image is used editorially, the RM stock supplier must be credited for the image. Copyright is NOT transferred with a rights-managed license. All rights remain with the photographer or creator of the image.

My name is Steve Marsel and I am a Boston photographer. I was originally trained as a studio photographer and product photographer. I now specialize in environmental portrait photography, people photography, and color digital photography. As an advertising photographer my unique photography style captures the true character of any subject. I enjoy working as a location photographer, as a fashion photographer and as an annual report photographer for print advertising, annual reports, and brochures. My primary goal as a commercial photographer and as a corporate photographer is to provide my clients with the highest quality images available. As a location photographer and studio photographer, the Steve Marsel Studio produces assignments with the highest level of professionalism. As a professional location photographer I am willing to travel to any assignment destination, regionally or nationally. I am as comfortable as a location photographer as I am as a studio photographer.

As an editorial photographer, I have had the opportunity to cover a variety of world celebrities ranging from the godfather of soul, James Brown to sports celebrities such as David Ortiz and Roger Clemens. As a veteran New England photographer, I bring the legacy of over 25 years experience and the experience of over 4000 jobs with me to each a freelance photography assignment. My passion as a Boston photographer is to document real people is a way that tells their story in photos, from editorial photography in magazines and environmental portrait photography to corporate photography to advertising photography both on location and in the studio. I am also capable of bringing my unique location photography and environmental portraiture style of photography to corporate and commercial clients looking for a more personalized and fresh look to their company image for annual reports, advertising, catalogs, company websites, brochures, sales sheets, environmental portraiture and billboards in Boston, Massachusetts, across New England.
