In a hundred years, we will likely cease production of consumer goods using industrial facilities,which generate pollution and and many other crisis issues. Replacing them will be biotechnology, which should be advanced to the degree that plants can be engineered to yield consumer goods as 'fruits'. These 'grown' products will function perfectly the same as products manufactured through traditional industrial methods, but they will have no environmental footprint at all both before and after shelf life. Additionally, they may even be used as seeds to grow more products.
So if u need a new pen or two? Just plant it and wait!
