CATACOMBS Paris

Before the nineteenth century, there were many cemeteries in Paris.
By the eighteenth century, these places had become unhealthy.
So the authorities of Paris decided to build cemeteries outside the boundaries of the city. So they destroyed the old cemeteries and they relocated the bones of dead people in the former quarries, that became the catacombs.
