Eco-friendly collection inspired by origami.
The collection concept was to apply the art of origami to a Tuscan traditional fabric called Casentino.
Casentino fabric has a history and a tradition of centuries, but because this has always been considered a tissue almost folkloric; in its collection that I made and that enabled me to participate in a project called Textiles & Sustainability (a chain 0 km, environmentally sustainable, where you know the origin of raw materials to the dress) I used just wool Tuscan would turn out to landfill, the tissues were provided by members of the Lanificio di Soci,it is part of the project, and I completed my clothes during an internship with an excellent teacher of tailoring art, Old Fashion of Irma Schwegler.
To give new life to this fabric I wanted to take inspiration from origami, so the collection is called Casentino (un) fold, this was an additional challenge, because it requires time and effort to learn the art of paper folding, consider the difficult to bend the fabric without using more than the manual, needle and thread.
Thanks to the results that you can see I just was able to win this challenge.
I also had the special honor of seeing remove my clothes in what was once the home of the Medici family, in the Palazzo Medici Riccardi, parade organized by the degree course in Fashion Design at the University of Florence.
And the sleeve origami liked enough to end up on different blogs that relate to the fashion inspired by origami.
