Alliance Francaise to hold embroidery workshop
Embroidery is an art which blends handicraft and imagination to create an artistic piece of decorative fabric. So as to promote the art of French hand embroidery, Alliance Francaise de Bangkok will organize 2 workshops for those fascinated by embroidery, the first one focusing on traditional and the other on haute couture embroidery, taught by master “brodeuse” Elisabeth Roulleau.
The traditional embroidery workshop will be held October 19 – 21 with a total cost of 6,000 baht (inclusive of materials) while the haute couture embroidery will take place October 22 – 26 with a price of 8,800 baht (inclusive of materials) at Alliance Francaise’s International Art Center.
Elisabeth Roulleau studied at the famous embroidery school “Ecole Lesage in Paris” as well as with Mrs. Le Vaillant, a traditional embroidery awardee of the professional craftsman prize “Meilleure Ouvrière de France”. The traditional embroidery workshop will include various techniques; white on white “broderie blanche”, Richelieu embroidery, Reticello embroidery and Hardanger embroidery as well as pearl and sequin embroidery and “broderie au ruban de soie” with silk ribbon.
The haute couture embroidery workshop will be held with all the dreams and glamour this can evoke. Participants will have the opportunity to experiment hand-embroidering with fabrics and materials of all types and sizes. No doubt that with her expertise, Elisabeth Roulleau, a passionate teacher, will enable both beginners as well as experienced embroiderers to create beautiful works.
