The ecological dimension and the universal message of the Nyepi Day has inspired the idea for World Silent Day, which was first proposed before the participants of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC) in Bali in 2007 to invite mankind to save the world's energy use and reduce exhaust emissions in their daily life. The campaign is coordinated by the nonprofit community, Bali Collaboration on Climate Change, which has been advocated to the public independently.

The Association of Indonesian Graphic Designers (Adgi) collaborates with Bali Creative Community as a community and professional associations that have professional and social responsibility. The two organizations take the initiative to participate in the effort to campaign for the World Silent Day through International Poster Exhibition featuring World Silent Day by making a series of exhibitions that began in 2010 in :

2. Bangkok Design Festival, Thailand. November 2010
3. Bali Creative Festival, Bali-Indonesia. December 2010
4. Epiwalk Creative Fairground, Jakarta-Indonesia. December 2010
5. Bentara Budaya Yogyakarta, Yogyakarta-Indonesia. Januari 2011
6. And more design festival in Asia + Pacific on year 2011

The Association of Indonesian Graphic Designers (Adgi) with Bali Creative Community invites the best 80 designers of Indonesia and Asia to participate in designing the World Silent Day poster according to each designer’s versions as creative contributions in the form of visual and media communication campaigns for the success of the World Silent Day.

According to Ayip, chairman of the Association of Indonesian Graphic Designers, "the exhibition also serves as an international network program as well as to foster a sense of togetherness through culture." The poster exhibition was a form of the designers’ participation in saving the Earth through calling for the need to save energy, reducing carbon emissions and avoiding activities that harmed the environment. “Through the exhibition, we want to create unity through culture as well as showing our participation in the global world.” The Earth, he said, was a victim of uncontrolled, irresponsible human activities, resulting in climate change and global warming whose impact posed a threat to the people and the place they lived in.

The World Silent Day campaign was inspired by Balinese Hindus’ Nyepi ritual, or the Day of Silence. A nonprofit community, the Bali Collaboration on Climate Change, proposed World Silent Day in 2007 before participants of the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Bali. Observed every March 21, the World Silent Day is a moral movement calling on people to save the world by saving energy and reducing gas emissions in their daily life.
