About Me :: JOON , NAWAJUL BOONPUCKNAVIG ‘S PROFILE
Born in to a doctor family in Bangkok , Thailand but his passion in photography, films and his fear of blood took him to another path. He went on to studied film at Los Angeles City College and UCLA extension , USA. After his 4 mins. 16mm. purely cinematic, non- dialog short film “ The Bug” won Ratana Pretonji Award for best short film by Thai Film Foundation and National Film Archive in 1996 and has been shown at several film festivals around the world, since then his career as a Tv commercial director has taken off. He’s been worked for some of the leading film production house in Thailand and abroad such as Siam Studio, The Bandits, Naga films [Singapore], Chang Sib Moo, Phenomena , Tai-Saduak and recently as a freelance director.
Joon love to combines cinematic visual-storytelling with the character driven story style together and that has been applied to countless commercials that he’s directed for both local and international advertising agency such as BBDO, Ogilvy & Mather, TBWA, Leo Burnett, Draftfcb , GGK Basel, GGK PB, SC Matchbox, Daichi- Kikaku, Lowe, JWT, Spa Advertising, One Roof Advertising, etc.
For the major clients such as Microsoft, Pepsi, Pizza Hut, Thai Airway International, Union Bank Of Switzerland, Sunsilk, Clinic shampoo, Mitsubishi Electric, Nissin Cup Noodle,Toshiba, CP, West End Scotch Whisky, Central Department store, Leo Beer, Fuji Japanese restaurant , Blue Diamond Almond, etc.
Joon also directed music video for some of the huge success artists like Asanee Chotikul , Pang Nakarin , Parapol , Somekieat Aariyachipanich , P.O.P. , Code Red [UK]
Recently just finished "Lokuka" a 120 mins. film about human trafficking/drug/aids in akha people for Unesco.
Apart from Directing , Joon also serve as a judge for Thai film foundation in the short film competition and has been teaching film directing in the university . In 2004, he co-founded “acting-mania” the acting school with Benyapa Boonpucknavig his acting coach wife.
