เรื่องจริงที่เปี่ยมด้วยความเป็นมนุษย์
เกิดขึ้นในจีนแผ่นดินใหญ่
ตอน เหนือของมณฑลเหลียวหนิง ประเทศจีน มีเมืองขนาดกลาง
ชื่อว่า เทือกเหล็ก เกือบทุกเช้าตรู่หรือพลบค่ำ
บนท้องถนนกรรมกร จะเห็นผู้เฒ่าเข็นรถขายเต้าหู้เคลื่อนไปอย่างช้าๆ
ลำโพงที่ต่อกับแบตเตอรี่บนรถ กระจายเสียงใสของหญิงสาว
“เต้าหู้มาแล้วจ้า เต้าหู้อ่อนสูตรโบราณ เต้าหู้อร่อยจ้า –
เสียงนี่เป็นของฉัน คนขายคือพ่อฉัน พ่อฉันเป็นใบ้”
