DESCRIPTIONThe British Fashion Council (BFC) has announced that Burberry Prorsum has confirmed they will show at London Fashion Week (LFW) in February, along with Antonio Berardi, Jonathan Saunders, Matthew Williamson and Pringle of Scotland. This represents a growing allegiance and commitment from London designers following the success of their London shows last September.

This coming season LFW will once again showcase innovative, iconic, established and new talent. Last season saw new levels of support and show stopping designs on London’s catwalks from Christopher Kane, Erdem and Marios Schwab through to iconic British brands such as Paul Smith, Vivienne Westwood Red Label and Betty Jackson. This was mirrored by support and attendance from key UK and international press and buyers including Anna Wintour from Vogue US, Carine Roitfeld from Vogue France, Franca Sozzani from Vogue Italia and Glenda Bailey from Harper’s Bazaar US and buying representatives from Hong Kong’s Lane Crawford and Saks Fifth Avenue.

Christopher Bailey, Chief Creative Officer of Burberry, announced that Burberry would continue to show here in February, at last week’s British Fashion Award’s, as the accepted his prestigious ‘Designer of the Year Award’. He commented "I am extremely pleased to announce that the Burberry Prorsum womenswear show will stay in London again this season and be held during London Fashion Week in February. There was such an incredible energy during the 25th anniversary of London Fashion Week last September and we were very proud to be a part of this momentous celebration. London is our home and our global headquarters and we are thrilled to be showing again in this, our magnificent and creative city."

Having always felt that ‘creative’ London was his home, last season Berardi returned to show in London from Paris and is excited to show here once again in February. Antonio comments “‘I am absolutely delighted to be returning to show in London again in February. London feels like home and I really enjoyed returning for the 25th Anniversary celebrations in September. I am really grateful to the BFC for the invitation to return and would also like to thank the British press for their continued support”.

Jonathan Saunders, added “I’m very happy to be showing in London again in February; I loved showing here in September. I’m based in London, and always will be, and so it is not only much easier but also really nice to show here amongst friends.”
British designer Matthew Williamson who will continue to show his mainline collection in London after a series of one-off returns, comments “Following the great success of the 25th Anniversary fashion week, I am very happy to announce my commitment to remaining in London for my AW2010 show.”
Caroline Rush, Joint Chief Executive of the British Fashion Council commented, “These designers and brands strengthen London’s proposition as a global fashion capital whilst retaining our reputation for nurturing innovative emerging designer fashion businesses. The British Fashion Council is delighted that all five have confirmed they will show in London this February and we look forward to working with them to attract leading media and buyers to London Fashion Week.”
