River Books and River City Bangkok are now exhibiting Bencharong Journey : From China to Siam, the first of its kind to be held in Thailand [Siam] since 1977. Over 150 pieces of Bencharong and related objects in other materials made exclusively for Siam in the 18th and 19th centuries have been assembled from private collections and galleries exclusively for this event. The exhibition is curated by ceramics historian, Dawn F. Rooney. Bencharong Journey: From China to Siam will be exhibited from now until 25 January 2019 on the 4th floor of River City Bangkok.

For this special occasion, the concurrent events and activities include Bancharong painting workshop on Saturday 19 January 2019 from 10 a.m. until midday at RCB Auction on the 4th floor. Attendants will receive a complimentary tea set with saucers or a set of tea cups (2 options to be selected) with lids to be painted by themselves. Then, firing process will be handled by the organizer and they will be shipped to your address. This workshop session will be run by the experts from Bencharong village, Donkaidee from Katumban district, Samut Songkhram.

Workshop fee at 1,000 THB including material and delivery after firing process. Only limited 20 seats.

Then, there will be a seminar “Bencharong in Perspective” in the afternoon at RCB Forum (on the 2nd floor) starting from 2-4 p.m. with a panel of experts (the exhibition curator, Dawn F. Rooney, Jeffery Sng, Pimpraphai Bisalputra, and Paul Bromberg.
