BENNY BENASSI BIOGRAPHY (SHORT VERSION)

Benny Benassi was born in Milan in 1967 and then grew up in the provincial town of Reggio Emilia, Italy. He started dj-ing when he ws still at school and has been producing with his
cousin Alle Benassi for about ten years at Off Limits studios. His first as a
producer was with the track "I feel so fine" by KMC feat. Dhany which
went to n°1 in the UK club charts in 2001. The following year, working under
the BENNY BENASSI presents THE BIZ trademark, Benny and Alle came up with
"Satisfaction" and in one fell swoop ravaged the dancefloors and
dominated sales charts round the world. The album “Hypnotica" followed. In
the meantime Benny and Alle produced more melodic dance music under the Benassi
Bros. banner. The charts of half the planet gave them thumbs up.

The Benassis have also remixed artists such as Outkast, David Guetta, Moby, Goldfrapp, Paul Oakenfold, Faithless and Public Enemy, to name but a few.

Benny has won tons of prizes and awards around the world and continues to tour the five continents with his unique style, once described as "electro, sort of house-tec, dirty and
cool, sweaty and smooth".
In 2008 Benny and Alle won a Grammy Award for his remix of Public Enemy’s
“Bring the noise”.
The new album “Rock n Rave” contains tracks featuring Black Box, Farenheit,
Dino Lenny, Mia J, Public Enemy, Channing and Iggy Pop.
His own productions are released through Energy Productions in Italy and Ultra
in U.S.A. At the same time, Benny talent scouts for his own brand new label,
Pump-kin, designed to create space for young djs and producers of electronic club
music. For more information check out these official websites:

Biography Long Version

Benny Benassi

Italian DJ Benny Benassi shot to fame in 2002 with the release of his worldwide smash hit Satisfaction. In 2007, Benassi won a Grammy award for his remix of Public Enemy’s Bring the Noise.

Benassi’s first club hit came in 2001 with the release of I Feel So Fine, which topped the UK club charts. This was followed by the Benny Benassi Presents the Biz project, a ground-breaking
mixture of electro, techno and house coupled with minimalist flair.

Satisfaction

Benassi had previously achived noteriety with his remix of Tomcraft’s Loneliness. With Satisfaction, however, he went from being a respected DJ and producer to a global superstar. The track
was a top 40 hit all over Europe, reaching number 2 in the UK sales chart and
number 2 in the German dance chart.

DJs, clubbers and music fans around the world sang the track’s praises. Carl Cox said of it, “Pure energy, I love it,” while Darren Emerson noted, “Norman Cook called
about this record and as soon as I heard it, I loved it.”

In 2003, Benny Benassi Presents the Biz released the studio album Hypnotica. The LP reached top 5 in the French album chart. Hit singles taken from the album included No Matter What You Do
and Love is Gonna Save Us.

It was a big year for Benassi in 2003. Satisfaction topped the Ministry of Sound Internet radio chart and also won the accolade of DJ Mag’s “Tune of the Year”.
Benassi won the Italian Dance Music Award for “Revelation of the Year” and the
Danish Music Award for “Dance Revelation of the Year”.

Benassi regularly works in collaboration with his cousin, Alle Benassi, a musician and arranger at Off Limits in Reggio Emilia, Italy, the internationally successful production unit
run by Larry Pignagnoli. The duo got together as the Benassi Bros, a project
designed to shine the spotlight on the two Biz vocalists, Paul French and
Violeta, as well as other guest singers.

From Subliminal to a sold-out bus tour

Adding to his status of a household name, Benassi became the first European DJ to record a Subliminal Sessions compilation with the 2004 release of Subliminal Sessions 6, which included the Benassi track I Want You to Come,
produced under the psuedonym BAT67, which Benassi has also used for remixes Hot
Tin Groove by Rava and Warman Whoreman by Digitally Stoned People.

In 2004, Benassi was the highest new entry in the DJ Mag top 100, entering the chart at 18. He also received three nominations at Dancestar, Miami, winning
the award for “Best Video”.

The 2005 album Phobia, released as Benassi Bros, went top 20 in France and his Gallery Session Vol 1 mix album with Tall Paul won lots of critical acclaim. This was also the year that
Benassi started his own label, Pump-kin (www.pump-kinmusic.com),
under which he released his first compilation, Benny Benassi Cookin’ for
Pump-kin, Phase 1.

The following year saw Benassi rock dancefloors with his single Who’s Your Daddy. Among the highlights of touring were gigs at the Ultra Festival in Miami and a special event in his honour in
Manila that attracted more than 30,000 partygoers.

Always one to go against the grain, Benassi in 2007 became the first DJ to tour Canada on a bus, playing 25 sold-out shows in 30 days. That same year, Benassi headlined the house stage at the
Ultra Festival in Miami and played in front of 25,000 people at the Coachella
Valley festival in California.

Benassi was also a headliner at UV Nation in Kuala Lumpur, where, despite heavy rain in the afternoon, 20,000 ticket-buyers turned up to see him rock the party with his electro beats. In
the studio, Benassi remixed the theme tune to 24, the cult TV show on Fox.

The Grammy and beyond

Last year, Benassi won a Grammy award for his remix of Bring the Noise by Public Enemy. He then went on to release his latest studio album, Rock ’n’ Rave, the first single from which was I’m Not
Drunk. The album featured collaborations with everyone from Iggy Pop, Public Enemy, Christian Burns and Dino Lenny to
Black Box, Mia J, Channing and Farenheit.

As well as being a prominent producer, Benassi has remixed the likes of Outkast, Moby, Jean Michel Jarre, Faithless and Kanye West.

When he isn’t in the studio, Benassi tours the world rocking clubs and events with his unsurmountable energy. He has spun tunes at the world’s top clubs, playing in every continent. Considered by
many to be the father of modern electrohouse club music, some pundits have gone
so far as to say that the history of house music can be divided into before and
after Satisfaction.

As a DJ, Benassi blends the dirtiest, roughest sounds of electro and tech house to create his own unque style.
