เทศกาลศิลปวัฒนธรรมอาเซียน กรุงเทพฯ ร่วมกับ หอศิลป์ คณะจิตรกรรม ประติมากรรม และภาพพิมพ์ มหาวิทยาลัยศิลปากร ภูมิใจนำเสนอ เสวนาเกี่ยวกับ “พัฒนาการของศิลปะร่วมสมัยในเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้และกลุ่มประเทศอาเซียน: ความเชื่อมโยงในความทรงจำร่วมเชิง ประวัติศาสตร์ สังคม และศิลปวัฒนธรรม”

เนื้อหา:

โดยพื้นฐานแล้ว ศิลปะร่วมสมัยเกิดขึ้นจากมิติทางสังคมและวัฒนธรรมอันเป็นรากฐานในการสร้างสรรค์และพัฒนา เพื่อตอบสนองต่อความเป็นไปในสังคมยุคปัจจุบัน ทั้งนี้ หากกล่าวถึงศิลปะร่วมสมัยในเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้และกลุ่มประเทศอาเซียน จึงจำเป็นต้องอ้างอิงถึงพื้นฐานของความหลากหลายทางสังคมและวัฒนธรรมระดับภูมิภาค ความคล้ายคลึงและความแตกต่าง ภายใต้ความทับซ้อนและซับซ้อนทางสังคมและวัฒนธรรม ซึ่งส่งผลต่อการเปลี่ยนแปลงและการมีจุดร่วมกันในยุคปัจจุบัน ภายใต้เงื่อนไขทางเศรษฐกิจ สังคม การเมืองที่แตกต่างกัน ศิลปะร่วมสมัยจึงมีส่วนในการสร้างความเข้าใจต่อความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างกลุ่มประเทศในแถบเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ที่เข้าร่วมเป็นสมาชิกประชาคมอาเซียนมากยิ่งขึ้น เพื่อในที่สุดแล้วเราจะสามารถเปิดช่องทางในการเรียนรู้ซึ่งกันและกัน ผ่านความทรงจำร่วมเชิง ประวัติศาสตร์ สังคม และศิลปวัฒนธรรม

กฤติยา กาวีวงศ์ จบการศึกษาปริญญาโทด้านการจัดการบริหารศิลปะ จากคณะบริหารจัดการศิลปะและนโยบาย สถาบันศิลปะชิคาโก มลรัฐอิลลินอยส์ สหรัฐ ปัจจุบันดำรงตำแหน่งผู้อำนวยการฝ่ายศิลปะ และ หัวหน้าภัณฑารักษ์ ประจำหอศิลป์ บ้านจิม ทอมป์สัน ตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ.2549

ผศ.ดร.บัณฑิต จันทร์โรจนกิจ ดำรงตำแหน่งรักษาการรองคณบดีฝ่ายวิชาการและวิจัย บัณฑิตมีงานเขียนบทความวิเคราะห์การเมืองวัฒนธรรมของศิลปะร่วมสมัย บัณฑิตเป็นบรรณาธิการนิยสารวิภาษาที่ตีพิมพ์งานเขียนด้านสังคมศาสตร์ มนุษยศาสตร์ และวัฒนธรรมอย่างต่อเนื่องตั้งแต่ พ.ศ. 2549 บัณฑิตยังเป็นภัณฑารักษ์อิสระและเคยเป็นภัณฑารักษ์ร่วมในศาลาไทยสำหรับ Venice Biennale ครั้งที่ 54 ความสนใจของบัณฑิตมีตั้งแต่การเมืองวัฒนธรรม ศิลปะร่วมสมัยในที่สาธารณะและการเมืองไทย

ศิโรตม์ คล้ามไพบูลย์ ปัจจุบันเป็น อาจารย์พิเศษด้านสิทธิมนุษยชนและทฤษฎีสังคมศาสตร์ในระดับปริญญาโทและปริญญาตรีของหลายสถาบัน รวมทั้งปัญญาชนสาธารณะที่มีผลงานเขียน ผลงานแปล และการแสดงความเห็นในประเด็นสาธารณะต่างๆ อย่างต่อเนื่อง งานเขียนของศิโรตม์มีจุดเด่นตรงการผสมผสานแนวคิดและทฤษฎีใหม่ๆ เพื่ออธิบายสังคมไทยร่วมสมัยด้วยแง่มุมที่ออกไปจากกรอบความเชื่อเดิมๆ ผลงานโดยสังเขปของเขาได้แก่ ทฤษฎีและความรู้ในยุคโลกาภิวัฒน์ (2544) จักรวรรดินิยมและการก่อการร้าย (2545) แรงงานวิจารณ์เจ้า (2547) ประชาธิปไตยไม่ใช่ของเรา (2550) สุนทรียะขัดขืนสู่พหุภพหลังความตาย (2553) สู่รัฐศาสตร์ไม่ฆ่าแนวหลังอาณานิคม (2553) ประชาธิปไตยก็เรื่องของเรา (2555) จากเก่าสู่ใหม่ : ความยุ่มย่ามของอัตลักษณ์และความลุ่มๆ ดอนๆ ของปฏิบัติการต่อต้านความเป็นไทย (2556)

ศิโรตม์เป็นเจ้าของผลงานแปลเรื่องรัฐศาสตร์ไม่ฆ่า (2552) และอัตลักษณ์และความรุนแรง (2556) ของอมาตรยา เซ็น นักเศรษฐศาสตร์รางวัลโนเบล เขายังได้รับรางวัล Jacob Peace Memorial Award และเป็น Visiting Lecturer ของ Ateneo De Manila University ประเทศฟิลิปปินส์ รวมทั้งเป็นผู้จัดรายการ Wake Up Thailand ทางสถานีโทรทัศน์ Voice TV

In response to the existing of today’s society, Contemporary Art is fundamentally based on both social and cultural dimensions of creating and developing foundation. When mentioning Contemporary Art, it is therefore necessary to refer to the complex and overlapping context of social and cultural diversity, similarities and differences, among Southeast Asian and ASEAN countries. Under various economical, social, and political conditions, such diversity remarkably affects both common identity and variation of today’s ASEAN Contemporary Art. At any rate, Contemporary Art could open channels of mutual learning and eventually contribute to better understanding of the relationship among people in this region, through historical and socio-cultural collective memories.

About the Speakers:

Gridthiya Gaweewong received her master degree in Arts Administration and Policy from the School of Art Institute of Chicago, Illinois, USA in 1996. She has been working in the contemporary art world since 1996. She has served as the artistic director Jim Thompson Art Center since 2007 where she facilitates for new exhibition and heads the curatorial team.

Pandit Chanrochanakit, Ph.D. is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Political Science, Ramkhamhaeng University. He holds a position of Acting Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs and Research. He publishes articles on cultural politics of contemporary art. He is also the editor of Vibhasa magazine, which has published articles on the social sciences, humanities, arts and culture since 2006. As an independent curator, Pandit was a co-curator of Thai Pavilion for Venice Biennale 54th in 2013. His interests include cultural politics, public arts and culture, and Thai politics.

Sirote Klampaiboon is a noted public intellectual scholar and commentator on politics and current affairs. As an independent scholar, Sirote continuously conducts courses on Human Rights and Social Science Theories on Undergraduate and Graduate Program at various universities. His writings are known for its theoretical-oriented analysis trying to shed lights to cope with new realities in Thai society. Sirote was a laureate of Jacob Peace Memorial Award at University of Hawaii at Manoa and Visiting Lecturer at Ateno De Manila University. He currently hosts news show Wake Up Thailand broadcasted in Voice TV. Sample of his writings are Theory and Knowledge in the Age of Globalization (2001) Imperialism and Terrorism (2002) Labour against the Monarchy (2004) Democracy is not ours (2006) Aesthetics Disobedience towards the space of Multitudes of the Death (2009) Post-Colonial Non-killing Political Science (2009). His recent work is a translation of Noble Laureate Amartya Sen’s Identity and Violence (2014).
