- 1979 born and Bangkok-based Akkara Naktamna took one of his first pictures as he happened to see the 1998 comedy-drama “Pecker.” The movie tells the story of an unassuming 18-year-old who works in a sandwich shop and takes photos of his loving but peculiar family and friends on the side. Though it’s not a good movie, Akkara was fascinated by the photos in it. He went out on the streets of Bangkok with his old camera and a cheap Black & White film to take photos of everything, like the protagonist in Pecker did.
In 2008, Naktamna started to shoot again after he saw some photos of Elliott Erwitt. Erwitt's book inspired him to find his own way of seeing in and through photography. One year later he was awarded with Honorable Mention of the International Photography Awards 2009 in the People and Culture category.
In mid of 2012, Naktamna became a member of Street Photo Thailand, a collective of inspiring street photographers in Thailand. In August 2013 he was awarded the Special Mention Award of IPA Street Photography Asia Award 2013. He also exhibited at the Unposed Bangkok street photographic exhibition together with the Street Photo Thailand group at Bangkok Art & Culture Centre (BACC). - Website :
