DESCRIPTION:\n\nThavibu Gallery is pleased to present the art exhibiti
 on Vapour with new three-dimensional works by Noppadon Viroonchatapun.
  Marking his first solo exhibition in seven years, the cumulus derived
  sculptural installation highlights the sculptor’s adeptness in util
 ising various raw materials, including brass, marble, ceramics, glass,
  sandstone and soapstone.\nMeaning ‘never ending sky’ in Thai, Nop
 padon uses his name as the initial… entry point for the contemplativ
 e and philosophical series of cloud forms. The physical properties and
  spiritual potentialities of clouds have long provided man with a sour
 ce for inspiration and speculation. The celestial bodies suggest a hig
 her plane in Christian symbolism, a gateway to the heavens. Using nebu
 lous imagery for associations to Buddhism, Noppadon explores the metap
 hysical possibilities of clouds as a metaphor for extraction from the 
 attachment of earthbound suffering, reaching toward the nothingness of
  enlightenment.\nCurrently lecturing sculpture at Silpakorn University
 , where he earned his MFA, Noppadon studied the technical aspects of m
 arble sculpting in Florence, Italy. Awarded the Gold Medal for Sculptu
 re at the 46th National Art Exhibition in 2000, the 40-year-old has st
 aged numerous solo and group exhibitions in his native Thailand, as we
 ll as Italy, Spain, Korea, India, Australia, and the USA.\nVapour is t
 he final exhibition in the yearlong project, 3D @ Thavibu, highlightin
 g three-dimensional art in Suite 307 of Thavibu Gallery. Curated by St
 even Pettifor, 3D @ Thavibu presents a series of exhibitions featuring
