 scending Clarity,” a solo show by Roldan “Manok” Ventura, curate
 d by Michela Sena.Keen on proposing new ways of looking and discoverin
 g aesthetic possibilities from unlikely sources, Roldan “Manok” Ve
 ntura presents new pieces from his artistic trajectory, which involve 
 the appropriation of works by Renaissance and Baroque masters. He fade
 s, blurs, or reworks only sections or segments of the original composi
 tion. In “Transcending Clarity,” Ventura stresses going beyond the
  limits of sharpness and accuracy in reproducing images, and invites v
 iewers to defamiliarize their encounters with art history and initiate
  conversations about interventions in human perception and visual expe
 rience. The exhibition engages with iconic works, mostly from Renaissa
 nce and Baroque masters whose renowned works communicated revolutionar
 y and novel ways of seeing, as well as groundbreaking approaches and t
 echniques in artmaking. While the exhibition mainly references the art
  of the past, it is more than an ode to key moments and personalities 
 on an art historical timeline. It is as much inspired by present reali
 ties, particularly contemporary technologies that mediate the reproduc
 tion, circulation, and presentation of images and other visual informa
 tion to the viewer. Ventura studied fine art at the University of the 
 East and has presented numerous solo and group exhibitions both nation
 ally and internationally. His paintings take interest in visual format
 ions resulting from the deterioration and decay of ordinary objects, s
 ites, and surfaces in the urban environment, and more recently from th
 e sluggish transmission of visual data online. This show is presented 
 in collaboration with The Working Animals Art Projects (TWA). The exhi
 bition will run from February 12 to March 15 at Tang Contemporary Art
