 allery presents recent abstract works by New York's Japanese artist Hi
 sako Kobayashi 小林久子.\r\nAs an abstract painter, Hisako Kobayas
 hi art combines the diverse influences of a person who still feels a s
 trong affinity for her native Japan, but who also received rigorous ar
 tistic training in the U.S. and who has lived in that country for most
  of her adult life.\r\nHisako exhibits regularly at the Georges Berges
  Gallery in Manhattan, and in 2017, one of her large works was bought 
 by Christopher Rothko, son of famed 20th century painter Mark Rothko, 
 who is actively involved in managing the Rothko legacy. Hisako was thr
 illed by this recognition, since Mark Rothko is a painter who has help
 ed inspire her own work.\r\nThe August 2018 issue of Whitehot Magazine
  features a long article by celebrated art critic Donald Kuspit called
 , \"The Feminine Sublime: Hisako Kobayashi’s Abstract Paintings.\" I
 n his deep appreciation of Hisako's work, Kuspit writes: \"Kobayashi�
 �s paintings seem fraught with such excessive feeling, each and every
