SUMMARY:นิทรรศการ “Mutable Forms and Immutable Con
 sciousness”
DESCRIPTION:This project is an attempt by the artist to work within th
e tastes of the exotic, however the artist has not rigidly adhered to
the cultural symbolism of dialogue or modes of social research. Rather
, the artist follows his own typical aesthetic interests, beginning wi
th designed action involving a process of ‘fangshan’, a traditiona
l practice across Buddhist countries in Asia involving the release of
captive fish into the rivers. This arises from sporadic behaviour such
as the impact of natural ecologies, the understanding of the viewers
in relation to the work, or also by the self-reflections of the audien
ce. The artist avoids interference and merely works to provide clues,
whilst he also refrains from specifically pointing to certain answers.
For example with his series ‘Route’, his visual games lead to the
viewer searching for entry and exit points, but they are based on the
viewer’s individual experience or collective memory – this can al
so be understood within the terms of certain texture of abstraction fo
und in Asia.\nUp to the present, art forms are already continually rep
roduced. Different kinds of figurative and abstract painting, photogra
phy, performance video, or with performances; the rationale behind eac
h form is constantly used because these forms have become validated. S
o even if the interest is continually progressing, our notion of artis
tic expression remains the same nonetheless.\nFor this exhibition, the
artist perhaps avoids a particular attention towards the final outcom
 e. More precisely, there is greater attention paid to suggesting new v
iewpoints and modes of reflection. The artist does not require everyon
e to understand his original intentions, but the exhibition is still a
ble to transfer a certain message – knowledge can be realised throug
h all kinds of methods and not just through the form of knowledge itse
lf. It is precisely from this perspective that the artist wishes outsi
de individuals to become involved with the work, so that local aesthet
ic experiences can produce collisions and seek out resonances. Strictl
y speaking, culture is a form of commonality or more so a form of reci
procity. It is simultaneously something impossible to predict; like a
run away horse, you never know what direction it is heading towards.\n
