All the artw ork is from the Australian Government’s Artbank collection. The exhi bition underlines the vitality, energy and innovation of Indigenous co mmunities and artists. It takes audiences beyond the popular contempor ary Indigenous art movement of the Western Desert to the personal expe riences of life in urbanized Australia. The striking images featured i n the exhibition have, at their heart, the stories of Australia’s Ab original and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures and reflect t he enormous contributions made by these communities to modern Australi an society. These works present a fresh view of contemporary Indigenou s identity and may make you think differently about what it means to b e an Indigenous person in Australia today. Featured artists include Ia n W Abdulla, Brook Andrew, Richard Bell, Robert Campbell Jnr, Julie Do wling, Adam Hill, Danie Mellor, Christian Thompson, Reko Rennie, Darre n Siwes, and H.J Wedge. The exhibition is presented by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in partnership with Artbank.
