DESCRIPTION:*** On January 26, the Neilson Hays Library will be hostin
 g an intimate Opening Party from 14:00 to 17:00 where guests can come 
 meet the artist herself.\r\n---\r\nOlivia Jhingran was born and raised
  in Austria. Over the last 30 years, however, she has made strong ties
  to India and, in particular, Indian fabric design. She loves working 
 with silk and colours, having started with making quilts from vintage 
 saris. She has since moved to creating various styles of innovative fa
 bric art.\r\nAs a fabric artist she collects silk saris and silk ties 
 and cuts them into different shapes before sewing them together to cre
 ate a patchwork piece. She also does freestyle quilting with unique pa
 tterns and themes inspired by the ever-changing interplay of colours s
 he admires in Indian fabrics.\r\nIn this collection, she has used leav
 es cut out from a vintage sari inherited from her mother-in-law as a l
 eading motif; hence the title of this exhibition being called \"Leafy\
 ".\r\nThe paintings are now showing until February 20 at the Neilson H
 ays Library Rotunda Gallery and the Garden Gallery.\r\nNeilson Hays Li
