SUMMARY:นิทรรศการ \"Goran Ehren\"
DESCRIPTION:***On Thursday, February 21, Goran Ehren will be hosting a
n Opening Party at the Neilson Hays Library from 18:00 to 20:00.\r\n--
 -\r\nBangkok Chinatown’s Wet Market\r\nThe “Market” is a central
part of every Chinatown. Here is where the local residents and busine
sses come for their daily purchase of perishable products. Meat, fish,
vegetable, fruit and other items change hands here every day of the y
ear.\r\nWhile the business owners stay by their stalls, the porters ar
e the ones that give the market that infamous “buzz”. They are the
ones who shuttle up and down the narrow lanes between the stalls with
their push carts carrying the newly bought produce. It’s busy, it
s wet and it’s dark, except for when the sun filters in between the
tall buildings during brief moments of sunshine.\r\nHaving watched th
ese porters in their daily actions during 2018, Goran Ehren felt compe
lled to document these men and women at their daily job. These photos
are a tribute to all the hard working porters at the markets in Thaila
nd.\r\nAbout the Photographer\r\nGoran Ehren was born in Sweden and mo
ved to Asia 25 years ago. His passion for photography started in the 5
0’s when he was handed his grandfather's old Brownie camera. One shu
tter speed and three apertures were all that Ehren had to play with. A
ll the rest was left to imagination.\r\nBut it was only in the last fe
w years that time has allowed him to explore a broader aspect of photo
graphy. “There is no better way to see Thailand than to use photogra
phy as an excuse to visit different places,” he says. “Everywhere
you walk is rich with photo opportunities of both minor and majestic p
roportions. You just have to walk slow enough to absorb it all.\"\r\nH
is photos are therefore of what he sees on his walks around Bangkok an
d Thailand.\r\nThe photographs will be showing from February 21 until
March 5 at the Neilson Hays Library Rotunda Gallery and the Garden Gal
 lery.\r\nNeilson Hays Library, 195 Surawong Rd, Bangkok.\r\nFor more i
