 HURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 5th, 6-8pm.\nH Gallery is very pleased to announce 
 a major solo exhibition by Kornkrit Jianpinidian across the gallery's 
 two venues in Bangkok and Chiang Mai, running concurrently. H Gallery 
 Bangkok will show photography, text and drawings from four series, inc
 luding the celebrated Worry and Love, while the Chiang Mai venue hosts
  a video installation.\nThe title of this exhibition is taken from an 
 essay on cities by Paul Virilio and suggests perpetual dislocation. 'e
 lsewhere' begins here and vice-versa was inspired by Kornkrit's early 
 memories of moving to Thailand's capital and places and spaces form th
 e predominant motifs of these artworks. However, the artist skirts con
 fessional or particularly individualized modes of expression to instea
 d examine the very idea of what it means to look back or experience me
 lancholia. He employs found imagery and references to movies as well a
 s exploring a visual analogy to memory through the method of digitally
  erasing elements of photographs to near-seamless effect.\nThe essenti
 al theme of 'elsewhere' begins here and vice-versa is desire: the desi
 res that memories invoke; desires that certain spaces can encode; desi
 re for others; and the desires that images provoke. Desire, we are rem
 inded, is a recognition of lack, the want of a sense of wholeness.\nBo
 th exhibitions for 'elsewhere' begins here and vice-versa are installe
 d in a manner that emphasizes the experience of space and time as unfo
 lding and, like memory, the exhibitions are, by turns, revealing and h
