 casing recent\npaintings by Panya Vijinthanasarn and Andrew Stahl.\n\n
 Conversations: The Vivid Real\nThis is the 3rd joint 2-person exhibiti
 on of Panya Vijinthanasarn & Andrew Stahl, but their first at Thavibu 
 Gallery.\nBoth artists are committed to painting as a viable and magic
  contemporary medium. They focus on the\ndiscussion of the poetic, ima
 ginative and symbolic and share their belief in the ability of paintin
 g to present a\nmulti-layered and complex poetic view of the world aro
 und them.\n\nAndrew and Panya often use their paintings to present con
 tradictory arguments or unexpected juxtapositions\nof both scale and s
 ubject matter. Panya‘s paintings revisit and reinvigorate traditiona
 l Thai and often Buddhist\niconography with a continual reference to t
 oday’s world and life force. Andrew’s paintings approach the vivid
  with\nreference to the surrealist ideas of the marvellous. His painti
 ngs are often collections of thoughts and different\nlayers and juxtap
 ositions. His interest in Asian culture stems from artists’ residenc
 ies in Thailand and other\nparts of Asia. Both artists value the conte
 mporary possibilities presented by intercultural interaction and the\n
 electric potential that transcultural interaction can provide. Andrew 
 lives in London and Panya in Bangkok. For\nPanya the experience of stu
 dying in England (both artists are former graduates of the UCL Slade S
 chool of Fine\nArt) and afterwards of painting the Buddha Padipa Templ
 e in Wimbledon, London, provided him with a broad\ninternational under
 standing of contemporary art and a sense of the importance of the tran
