 . Today, we are happy and proud to present another cult in the making,
  \"Chui Chai\".\n\"Chui Chai\" means \"transformation\" in Thai. It co
 mes from the \"Nang Loi\" episode (The Floating Lady), in the Ramayana
 . To end the war, the demon Todsakarn asks his young niece Benyakai to
  impersonate Sita, the wife of his arch-enemy, King Rama. Benyakai has
  no choice but to obey her uncle even though the transformation is ver
 y difficult. Pichet Klunchun's piece transposes the tale of \"Chui Cha
 i\" to contemporary Thailand. Through an historic parallel, he reminds
  us of the difficult and painful necessity of transformation to stop a
  war (in the Ramayana) or to modernize society. \"Chui Chai\" is a tal
 e of today. He artistically illustrates the evolution of Thai society 
 through different forms of dance - contemporary and classical - and th
