 o present the art exhibition Camouflage with new paintings by the Thai
  artist Jirapat Tatsanasomboon on 18 September - 10 October, 2010.\n\n
 Jirapat is well known for applying a pop-art style to his paintings wh
 ich often feature interactions between the East-West and Modern-Tradit
 ional. He appropriates images from well-known European masterpieces an
 d inserts readily identifiable Thai iconography as a commentary on Tha
 i society by re-interpreting the celebrated master paintings and using
  them as 'camouflage'.\n\n\nJirapat Tatsanasomboon was born in 1971 in
  Samut Prakarn and completed his Master Degree at Silapakorn Universit
 y in 1999.\n\nJirapat is well known for applying a pop-art style to hi
 s paintings which often feature interactions between the East-West and
  Modern-Traditional. He appropriates images from well-known European m
 asterpieces and inserts readily identifiable Thai iconography as a com
 mentary on Thai society by re-interpreting the celebrated master paint
 ings and using them as 'camouflage'. His heroes are depicted in a dist
 inctive Thai setting and are often seen interacting with traditional T
 hai heroes and mythical figures, most of whom are characters in the Ra
 makien (Ramayana). Jirapat also takes on well known icons spanning fro
 m old master paintings to stars in the entertainment industry and Amer
 ican superheroes and puts them in a new, Thai context. Jirapat has par
 ticipated in several art shows in Thailand and also in Korea (2003), U
 SA (NYC, 2006), Singapore (2008), China (Olympics, 2008), India (2009)
