  November at 5pm\nH Gallery Chiang Mai is very pleased to announce an 
 exhibition and book launch by the photographer Piyatat Hemmatat. 11.11
 : Exploration of Mysterious Encounters and Parallel Universes in the D
 igital Age is a selection of large-scale and enigmatic works which ref
 lect Piyatat’s travels in Thailand and overseas. A hardcover book wi
 ll be available at H Gallery Chiang Mai from the opening date and cont
 ains an introduction by Ralph Gibson and forewords by Brian Curtin and
  Ing K.\n11.11 refers to the artist’s seemingly supernatural encount
 er with these digits whenever he checks the time on a digital façade;
  and, coincidentally, 11.11 marks the opening date of this exhibition 
 and launch. In Thai numerology, the number 11 means bad fortune while 
 western beliefs hold it as lucky. Piyatat is interested in divergent u
 nderstandings as he explores photography’s capacity to capture preci
 se moments while also acknowledging how moments can escape precise und
 erstandings. A sense of the animistic, of knowledge that escapes langu
 age, pervades his images of fleeting seconds from natural and urban la
 ndscapes.\nPiyatat Hemmatat worked as a successful art director in Lon
 don for a number of years and graduated from Chelsea College of Art in
  2007. On returning to Bangkok he founded RMA Institute, a consultancy
  and non-profit art and education space. He continues to work on commi
 ssioned projects and exhibits internationally.\nH Gallery Chiang Mai i
 s located 700 meters beyond the Tiger Kingdom (same road) in Mae Rim a
 nd is a short drive from The Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai and Dara P
 irom Palace Museum. The gallery is open to the public by appointment o
